CANVAS FOR SELF-EXPRESSION

The TOMS Artist Series celebrates artists based in Los Angeles who are illustrating the important role that self expression plays in supporting mental health. For our second limited-edition drop, we're proud to partner with illustrator Ludi Leiva and bring her Never Alone print to life. "Self expression can be key to healing," says Ludi. It's really important to continue talking about mental health and being really open about what we're going through. Just because chances are we're not the only ones."

EVERYTHING IS INTERCONNECTED

"I'm really inspired by the natural world around us, so there's a lot of natural elements in my artwork," says Ludi. The Guatemalan-Slovak artist lives between Los Angeles and Scandinavia, but no matter where she is, her "mental health is grounded in spending a lot of time in nature and connecting with the earth." Her print features two tulips leaning together from separate vases to illustrate that despite physical distance "we can still uphold and support each other and be connected."

Through her artwork, Ludi expresses how she is "connecting to the Earth and to everyone around me." One of the ways she creates space for personal exploration is by reducing screen time. "I try to take at least one weekend a month where I turn my phone off and try to be present. That's super important," she says.
